Introduction

Alencia (“we”, “our”, “us”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use alencia.com (the “Service”). We wrote this in plain language so it is easy to understand. By using the Service, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

What Information We Collect

We collect your email address when you create an account. We collect browsing activity such as pages viewed and products searched. When you click affiliate links, we log the timestamp, product, and retailer — we do not collect purchase amounts. If you submit reviews or photos, that user-generated content is also stored.

Skin Profile Information (Optional)

If you choose to set up a skin profile, we collect:

• Your skin type (for example: oily, dry, combination, or sensitive)
• Skin concerns you select from our list (for example: acne-prone skin, redness, dryness, texture concerns, or uneven skin tone)
• Detailed skin ratings you provide (such as how oily or sensitive your skin feels)

Some of the skin concerns on our list — like acne-prone skin or sensitivity — relate to common skin conditions. We collect this information only to help match you with K-beauty products that may work for your skin type. Setting up a skin profile is completely optional.

How We Use Your Information

We use your data to provide and improve the Service, send price drop alerts you explicitly request, send an optional newsletter (unchecked by default at signup), and analyze usage patterns to improve product recommendations. We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

Skin profile data is used to:

• Show you personalized product recommendations
• Let you see how your skin profile compares with other users' product experiences
• Help other users find products that worked for people with similar skin

Skin profile data is NOT used to:

• Diagnose any skin condition
• Provide medical or dermatological advice
• Share your individual skin information with advertisers or data brokers

Who Can See Your Information

Your account email is never shown publicly. Reviews and profile information you mark as public are visible to other Alencia users.

Your skin profile:

• If your profile is set to Public, other Alencia users can see your skin type and concerns
• If your profile is set to Private, only you can see your skin profile
• Alencia's internal team may review aggregated skin data to improve the app — we never share individual skin records

Cookies & Analytics

We use session cookies for authentication (Supabase Auth). We use PostHog analytics to understand page views and user flows — data is pseudonymized. We use Vercel Analytics for performance monitoring. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking pixels.

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policy: Supabase (database and authentication, US-based), Resend (email delivery), Sentry (error monitoring), PostHog (analytics), and Vercel (hosting and infrastructure).

Data Retention

Your account data is retained until you delete your account. Price history and product data is retained indefinitely as it is not personal data. Analytics data is retained per PostHog's default retention settings (pseudonymized event data).

Your Rights & Choices

You can do any of the following at any time from your account settings:

• View your skin profile data
• Edit your skin type and concerns
• Delete your skin profile — this removes all skin-related information from your account while keeping the rest of your account intact
• Delete your account — this permanently removes all of your information

Important: We Are Not a Medical Service

Alencia is a K-beauty price tracker and product discovery app. We are not a medical service, and nothing on Alencia is medical advice. If you have concerns about a skin condition, please consult a licensed dermatologist or healthcare provider.

California Residents (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to:

• Know what personal information we collect about you
• Request deletion of your personal information
• Opt out of the sale of your personal information (note: we do not sell your data)
• Limit how we use sensitive personal information, including skin condition data

To exercise these rights, email support@alencia.com or use the data deletion tools in your account settings.

Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to users under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal data, please contact us at support@alencia.com and we will delete it promptly.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
